Hello! We're Milton Musical Society
Milton Musical Society (MMS) is an award-winning New Milton-based amateur theatrical group, specialising in musical theatre and performance.
Founded in 1968, we’re very privileged to still be performing to audiences of over 5,000 a year in venues across Dorset, Hampshire and the New Forest. We typically put on two shows a year: one at The Regent (Christchurch) in spring and a second in the autumn, in our home town of New Milton at Forest Arts Centre. As well as big shows we regularly perform themed concerts in the local community.
Over the last 58 years we’ve entertained thousands of theatregoers with timeless classics, such as Oklahoma! and My Fair Lady, as well as contemporary shows, including 9to5 The Musical and, most recently, Sister Act. Annually, we also have great success with our original productions that are written by members of the society, including Westenders, Departures and Once Upon a Time where we performed to sell out audiences.
What makes MMS special is our inclusive and diverse membership. Our casts are made up of talented individuals of all abilities ranging from 8 to 80 years old. We believe that everyone should have a chance to perform and many of our members have found hidden talents: singing solos they didn’t know they could sing and dancing steps that they didn’t know they could dance!
We have a constitution and elect a committee to manage our affairs with an Annual General meeting in November. Annual Membership is available. Performers and non-performers alike and all are welcome. Learn more about becoming a member here.
